Compatibility with research objectives: Research must be compatible with the objectives of HIPPNET. For example, destructive sampling or manipulative research may not be compatible with our research questions. Applications for these types of research may therefore be denied. The PI's reserve the right to determine research compatibility. Right to refuse access or revoke access: The PI's reserve the right to deny or discontinue access should research become incompatible with HIPPNET objectives or should researchers not follow appropriate conduct in the field. Authorship:The PI's reserve the right to be included as co-authors on publications produced from research conducted in HIPPNET plots or using HIPPNET data. Copies of publications: Prior to submission, manuscripts and reports should be sent to the PI's for review. Once published, copies all publications should be sent to the PI's to include in the HIPPNET library. Data sharing: So that we can maintain a record of all the research conducted using the plot data, we ask that you do not share HIPPNET data with anyone not included on this permit application. Researchers should resubmit this application for each different project. Acknowledgment and Disclaimer: "Publications and presentations using the HIPPNET plots or data should be acknowledged using the following text: "This work is possible because of support provided by NSF EPSCoR (Grant No. 0554657), the USDA Forest Service, and the University of Hawaii.". If the publication is other than a scientific article or paper appearing in a scientific, technical, or professional journal, then please add, "Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation.” Metadata:Once the project is complete, provide the HIPPNET PI's with project metadata.
